Award-winning Philadelphia filmmakers Paul & Sandra Fierlinger talk about their adaptation of British author J.R. Ackerley’s acclaimed 1956 memoir, My Dog Tulip, and sign posters and the film tie-in edition of the book. This event takes place at 6 PM at Borders-Avenue of the Arts, 1 South Broad St. in Philadelphia.

Memorial service and celebration of the life of Joe Drabyak, bookseller extraordinaire for 16 years at Chester County Books & Music Company (CCBMC), the wonderful independent bookstore on Paoli Pike in West Chester, PA. Joe was a friend to readers and authors everywhere. He died August 27, 2010 after about a two month illness.
Joe Drabyak was president of the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association (NAIB). Tributes from the association members appear here.
Services take place at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home in West Chester, PA. Visitation will begin at 2:30 PM and the service will start at 4:30 PM.

A LUNCH TALK WITH ARTIST AND WRITER MAIRA KALMAN, author/illustrator of the quirky illustrated memoir The Principles of Uncertainty. Kalman’s illustrations have appeared on the cover of The New Yorker and in numerous children’s books including the award-winning 9/11 picture book Fireboat.
